AaronS
I'm sure this will bring back some arguments about whether or not Walmart is good for the U.S. That is not my intention here. I'm just posting what I see as good news for U.S. sportsmen. Article courtesy of North American Hunter Online Wal-Mart Signs New Conservation Partnership WASHINGTON, D.C.—The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and retail giant Wal-Mart signed a conservation partnership this week under which Wal-Mart will contribute $35 million during the next 10 years to conserve and protect wildlife habitat across the country. Under the new "Acres for America" program, Wal-Mart will provide funding to help conserve at least 138,000 acres of habitat, equal to the footprint of all its stores and facilities in the United States. The amount of habitat actually conserved, however, will be higher as the NFWF has already acquired more than 6,000 acres to be added to Catahoula National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana and a permanent conservation easement on more than 312,000 acres of forests, rivers and wetlands in Maine. The NFWF, established by Congress in 1984 as a private non-profit conservation organization, will raise $35 million from other partners to match Wal-Mart's contribution, boosting the overall total to $70 million.
