JimT
I was told that a 300gr bullet will not work well in my B/D 22" becuase it will not stabilize the bullet enough. Is this true? I read somewhere that it would be fine and picked up some 300gr Shockwaves to play around with yesturday. I decided to use them for black bear instead of the 250s. Range is not really an issue as I will be shooting under 40 yards, but I do not want to bullet hitting the animal sideways either......The twist is 1-28 I think....What do you think? David_218
Re: Black Diamond Twist I can't see any reason why your Black Diamond can't shoot 300 grainers. Lots of guys shoot them with no problems. Personally, I receive the best accuracy using 250 grain (.452") Hornady XTP in a sabot, using 90 grains (Volume) of Triple "777" FFG, and a 209 primer. My B.D. is a .50 caliber.
JimT
Re: Black Diamond Twist I should have added that my B/D is a 50 cal also, and that I use 209 primers and 120gr of Pyrodex.
SaskMan
Re: Black Diamond Twist I shoot 300 grain barnes expanders out of mine, with 100grains of 777. I get way more accuracy out of them than the smaller bullets.
too_pointer
Re: Black Diamond Twist There is no reason that they wouldn't shoot fine with your twist.I shoot 295 grns. out of my Encore just fine. Triple 7 likes the heavier bullets, maybe he will add to this post too_pointer
JimT
Re: Black Diamond Twist [ QUOTE ] as long as your packing a large caliber pistola underneath your coat -- just in case Mr. Bear gets a hot temper from your poorly placed shot. A few horror stories I read over the years.... better safe than sorry! [/ QUOTE ] I will have a .40 S&W and some pepper spray.... Thats all I got....lol.... I could bring in two rifles, But I am not that worried about it. I am not worried about missing the sweet spot. If I miss or wing the bear from 20-25 yards, he desearves to eat me I guess....lol.
