Tominator
Guess who's property is in the middle of a 3 way pheasant turf war? Give up? It's me, but you knew that didn't you? I have 1 pheasant to the west of me, 1 pheasant to the north, and 1 to the south of me. Yesterday while doing some yard work I heard a c-ock sound off, 30 seconds later I see another bird run across the road, right down the property line into my field and he sounds off. Well, the original bird that sounded off didn't like that, so he sounds off, now the birds are within 100 yards of each other. I thought I was going to see a fight for sure, but the big boy from across the street won I think, because 10 minutes later, I hear the other bird at least 300 yards away. 1/2 hour later I hear yet another bird to the north sound off, which the bird in my field didn't like again. I'm assuming it's the same bird that crossed the road earlier, but at this point I'm not that sure. Suffice it to say, that there's at least 4 or 5 c-ock birds battling for turf all around my house. Is that cool, or what?

Tominator
Re: Turf War *Update* Kind of funny. I got home last night and got into my work clothes and just happened to notice a pheasant (c-ock bird) walking through my back yard. So I quick grabbed my camera and headed out the front door. As he strutted by, I noticed his tail feather was broke and hanging down. Looked like he had been doing some fighting. The farmer next to me was drilling beans so I think that's what got the rooster up and walking around. I never did get a picture of him, my 3 year old followed me out the door yelling "I don't have shoes, I don't have shoes." Well, Mr. Rooster didn't like that, and just as I was about to snap a picture, the ducked under the fence and ran towards the road, to which I sprinted towards the road because I didn't want him to get hit by a car. Well, I did cut him off, and chased him back into my field.

Tominator
Re: Turf War *Update* Tom and I listened to one crow all morning, well, until I got sick and left, but he was crowing more than the turkeys were gobbling.
