I must sound like Ellen

Hi Guys & Gals,

I've been hunting turkeys for 20+ years and this last weekend was a first.

To start with I was hunting in a new location that is many miles from the area I am used to hunting. I scouted the area on Friday morning and heard a gobbler so I figured I was all set. That next morning I got out at first light and snuck in. I started calling and heard nothing in return. Ok, I will move around and find them. Soon I got a response from a hen. Cool, I've had angry hens lead in gobblers before. However this hen wasn't ticked off. She came in alone. She was calling with soft clucks, purrs & yelps. The same calls I was making. I waited for her to move on and I left the area. I no sooner left and I started up over a ridge. When I felt that was far enough away I started calling again. Here comes another hen, a different hen. So I set up and waited. This time this hen came within 20 yards, jumped up on a rock and again used soft clucks, purrs & yelps. I sat there for 20 minutes hoping she could call in a gobbler. Nobody answered her and she wandered off. Now about this time I was beginning to wonder so I checked my call to see if it was endorsed by Ellen Degeneres grin.gif. I have never had hens come in like this. I never heard a gobble all morning. I left the woods scratching my head. Has anyone else had a day like this where the hens come in soft or are these lovelorn hens using GALA literature for nesting material grin.gif?
