so, you bought a new rig

Just curious, but, for all of you who have ever purchased a new vehicle (or a used one with a warranty) I have one question. Do you follow maintenence schedules, such as oil change, coolant and tranny service, as required to maintain warranty agreement? Along the same lines; Do you regularly check tire pressure and rotate tires for maximum tire life and fuel milage (also a safety concern)?

More and more dealers are requiring documented service records to honor warranty work, from what I understand. If you do the maintenance yourself, such as oil changes, filter changes, etc., you would be best to file your receipts for the purchase of supplies as proof of maintenance.

Yep pretty much keep up with all of it. I do have an ace in the hole though. One of my closest friends owns a Goodyear Tire store and also does all the maintenance on my vehicles. I drop it off and we go have lunch while it gets worked on. Most of the time he won't even let me buy lunch either.

You had better read the warranty well....most aren't worth the paper they are written on.

They diavow fasteners for instance in transmissions. So when a snap ring fails, they disallow the repair. Or they blame everything on the fastener regardless.

But ensure that they don't have a clause in their about additional maintenance or shorter schedules even than what the manufacturer tells you to. Otherwise, void.
