archerjg
I plan on sighting in the new .223 this weekend. Should I sight it in dea on at 100 yards or slightly high as I will be shooting anywhere form 100 to 300 yards. at ground hogs. I do have access to a 300+ yard range. I would like it to be pretty much on to 200+ yards. I was thinking just sighting it in dead on, but would like the opinion of those that shoot .223 caliber. AJ
Re: .223 ? Depending on what ammo you are shooting, will determine what the trajectory will be. I like 50 gr ammo for the 223 Rem. Sighting in 1 3/4" high at 100 yards gives me approximately: 100 yards = +1.75" 150 yards = +2.0" 200 yards = +1.0" 250 yards = -1.5" 275 yards = -3.2" 300 yards = -5.3" 325 yards = -8.0" As long as you know what your trajectory is and have a range finder, its pretty easy to get the proper elevation dialed in. I can hold high or low out to 300 yards and be fairly sure of impact. You should test this to see what the actual numbers are on paper. lil hunter
Re: .223 ? Aj, you confused me again. You said you sighted in 1 3/7" high at 100 yards, then in your little chart, it's sayin at 100 your 1 3/4" high. Was this a typo, or am I just stupid?? AJ
Re: .223 ? DOH! Yep, 1 3/4" or 1.75" for those fractionally challenged people. See why I don't like to put reloading data out there? Its easy to fat finger something.
archerjg
Re: .223 ? Thank you for the replies. I am using 40 grain as that is what was recommended. I will post the results when I get it dialed in. Archerjg
