Guest guess Posted May 28, 2005 Report Share Posted May 28, 2005 my wife and I got a late start this morning ,because we stayed up too late the night before.anyway we were headed out to the hunting spot about 7:30 am! right off we saw a yote cross the highway! what better sign could you ask for! we made 2 dry stands but on the 3rd they came to life! I was using Lemarr game calls tweaked squirrel and I had my mini-supreme extreme decoy set up! My wife said there's a yote I was straining my eyes out looking for this yote out around 100 yards and it was right there at 30 with it's head poking up out of a drainage! she said it just left! I asked her why she didn't shoot it and she said all she could see was it's head! needless to say I fussed at her for a minute and went back to callin' .about then I saw one coming from way out! as soon as I knew it could see the decoy I quit calling! it was coming good till it thundered that got it a bit nervous ,so I decided to go ahead and shoot it! boom flop! I shot it at 117 yards with my ruger .243! if you look closely you can see the entry wound just below it's left eye! between stands we saw another yote working it's way up a draw,we drove on passed and made a stand on the other side no response! so we moved a couple of miles to another area ! as we started towards an old barn that we were going use for cover we noticed a yote between a 1/2 mile and 3/4 of a mile away ! so as soon as we got to some power line poles we set up there! it was the only cover around! I was using a call a friend made for me! {He's not in the call business he just made for me} and I had taken the critter off of my predator supreme and put it on my mini-supreme extreme just to see what would happen! as soon as I blew the call this coyote made a bee line towards us! as soon as it spotted the decoy it started bouncing like crazy! man I mean she came flying in ! I shot her at 34 yards,my wife couldn't get a shot because the yote came in too far to her right! both coyotes were females neither was rubbed from dening and neither had pups! I like the movement of the mini better! a friend of mine has a really dumb looking teddy bear on top of his.Once when we were hunting we had 2 yotes try and grab it before we even started calling! the decoys are definately an asset ! if you need the link to them let me know!
