JimT
For some reason when I depress the brake pedal on my truck with the blinker on the blinker will stop working. There is a little black box that connects the tail lights to the trailer lights. I gather this is a fuseable link or relay of some kind? Do you think this could be it? I need to get it fixed before someone slams into me....? ?
sureshot
Re: Question for Mechanics What type of truck?? most vehicles run both the brake lights and the signal lights on the same wire, and the same bulb, but there are a few now that have seperate wires and yes they have a little box called a divider I believe it is called[cannot remember] but what it does is makes the stop lights and signal lights go to a one wire system so the trailers that work off of one bulb and one wire will work, My best guess is there is a problem in the box, what i would do is disconnect it,[most are ran into the wireing harness at the plugs enabling it to be disconnectd and the original wiring harness hooked back up] if you disconnect it then it works right it has to be in there, or else you have a problem behind the box, in front of the box should not cause the problem youa re talking about becouse theya re on seperate wires!I sure hope this helped out, easy to fix if tis right in front of me but ahrd to describe lol! Good luck, let us know or if need anythign ask!

JimT
Re: Question for Mechanics hehe...That was it S.S. I took it off and they work fine. There is a red wire heading up to my cap, so I think I disconnected that in the process. Will have to get a new one before I need a sticker. Thanks!!!! sureshot
Re: Question for Mechanics hope it works out, if you have a trailer brake in the cab there may be a live wire you disconnected, just make sure you have them all taped up till you re hook it up! Also there amy ba a charging wire live to charge a battery in a trailer, if tis a factory system it will eb ok if not they may have been put in and who knows were they are lol, I knwo we get tons of home wirign jobs to fix up and theya re the biggest nightmare in the world to fix!just make sure no open wires and all will be good!
