markyj987
Well, I'm flattered that I received an invitation, but I wish it were for me. Someone, with the same first and nearly identical spelling of my last name received an invitation at my address. Maybe just a typo...but you'd think with my name on classmates, my email to the organizer through classmates, the yearbook, newspaper clippings, and other things (NO, not the police blotter..lol), you'd think they'd get my last name right. Enough griping about that. I'm really not sure if I want to go. I have no idea what they were thinking when they put this together, but it sure as heck doesn't sound fun. First of all, it's at the end of July--the same weekend over which the EAA Fly-In is going on in Oshkosh. So, good luck getting a hotel room. It's semi-formal--again, end of July--think HOT. The funniest and possibly most pathetic thing is that my hometown is such a dead end place, that the reunion is 30 miles away....lol We're supposed to write a paragraph or two about ourselves and send it in with the check. I wonder if I send this if I'll be stigmatized as a whiner. Or maybe I should write an essay on reasons to go--and reasons to not go. And conclude with how I will go despite the cons leading the pros--for no other reason than to show them how buff I am. (Of course, we all know that's a lie...lol) Maybe I should be honest with my friends here. I don't think I want to go because I really don't want to be reminded that I'm getting old. ACK! HarvDog
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... I missed my 10 year reunion but would have liked to have gone. Maybe I'll make my 20 year....UGH!!! I can't believe it's almost been 20 years since I graduated.

Guest Andrea
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... My class didn't even have our 10 yr. reunion. I probably wouldn't have gone anyway. All a reunion is to me is a night to compare each other's success. Who makes more than who? Who lives in a nicer house? Who drives the nicest car? Yada yada yada. Tominator
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... I went to my 5th year reunion, and it was my last one I think. My 25th is coming up in 2007, and my cousin is pressing me hard to go. (She's the class secretary). Thing of it is, to me, it's like living in the past. When I went to my 5th I was going to see some old pals I hadn't seen in awhile, but it turned out to be a pathetic "look what I've done with myself so far" talent and popularity contest. Don't see myself going to anymore.
MCH
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... Went to my 10 year a while back. Small town. Saw most of my classmates regularly anyway, but there were a few exceptions. Not sure if I'll go to the 15 or 20 though. Might start working out now and get in shape by my 30th... Seemed a few grew up and had reality checks. Wish a few more would have made it...but I did have a good time.
Guest cowpoke
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... I didn't make it to the 5, 10 or 15 for a variety of reasons that were part of life at the time of the reunions (just moved 1000 miles away and started a new job, a college buddy was in some dire need at the time, and other work interference) this summer is the 20th... I don't know if I will bother with it either. I suspect it will be as others have mentioned a contest to see who is still "skinny" and "pretty" and I never was to start with and who has money and who doesn't. That is what the few folks I do keep up with said the last 3 were like... and I have better things to do.
tedicast
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... I skipped my 5th, 10th amd 20th. Any of the people that I care to see from those days, I am still friends with. The rest I could care less about. I can picture it being a night of everyone trying to "one better" every one else. No thanks!
Chrud
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... I'm probably not going to mine, in 9 years. I still talk and hang-out with my best friends often. I have other "friends" from school, but a lot of rich, snotty kids too. Don't know why I'd want to put up with that again.

[/ QUOTE ] I hear ya bud....my 10 year will be next summer and they are all ready planning a big drunk feast....just don't feel like dragging the little lady to something like that. There are very few people that I would really care to see anyway and I see them now....so what is the point right!
snapper
Re: Class Reunion Invitation... You know, some folks never learn or grow up! However, most do...people do change as they get older. For the folks who never went to one of their reunions...I'd say give it a shot and see how it goes, you may just be surprised.
