Squirrelhunter91
Re: Salt Lick Jim, I have never visited the place, so I don't know what it really looks like. If it looks "blockey" to you, go back and take another pic.

lil hunter
Re: Salt Lick for those of you wantin to kno how to make one, here is dodoc's recipe. Here is a homemade mineral mixed that has been posted here a lot: WHITETAIL DEER HOMEMADE MINERAL MIX RECIPE Ingredients: Makes 200 lbs. for about $23.00 1 part Di-calcium phosphate, this is a dairy feed additive bought at feed stores. wtnhunt
Re: Salt Lick Have you got a cam set up over it Jim? Looks like some good activity taking place there. [ QUOTE ] Here comes a dumb question from a seasoned hunter,,,,,just how do you make one of these ?? and what do you use as minerals ????? [/ QUOTE ] Can use a plain trace mineral salt block, can mix your own, or you can use commercial blocks or mixes like deer cain or whitetail addiction. Thayer
Re: Salt Lick I would recommend using the mix that is posted above....it adds alot of minerals and vitamins for you deer to express their genetic potential. I play around with the mix...sometimes adding less salt, more mineral salt, different mineral mixes....I just don't like to see just a plain old salt block out there, doesn't help out as much as a mineral mixture. Just my .02$ Oh...that mix only runs around $30.00 for 200lbs of mix, and don't mix it all up at once...mix about a five gallon bucket full, it is easy to carry and makes a nice sized lick at your location. JimT
Re: Salt Lick I would use the recipe above also. WalMart had the Addiction stuff last year on clearence for $1.00 a bag or something like that so I bought it just to see what would happen. I am going to make my own next time.
