tped
I failed to draw an Iowa tag and one of my alternative options is to hunt in Texas around Midland. I may bow hunt or rifle hunt depending on conditions. For all who know Texas - what would be the optimum time to hunt there?
Snipe
Re: Texas whitetails I hunted in Glasscock County just 40 miles SE of Midland for 6 years...And the best time starts around the week before Thanksgiving and through the following week after...Hope this helps... If your in the Midland area you do not have much ground cover ...So a pop up blind is good if your bow hunting and a box blind on a tower is good for rifle... tped
Re: Texas whitetails I think this place is about 70 miles southeast of Midland. Was really wondering what the weather and all was like then and when the rut would be. I hunt mostly in the midwest and usually try for the middle of november there but Texas is a new game for me. [/ QUOTE ] The Peak rut should be around Thanksgiving Weekend and the weather ...Who knows in Texas...I would take cool-cold weather gear....a rain coat or poncho....
