I have shot and killed 5 deer with a bow I have missed 1 I have a 83.3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 percent success rate if I have done my math correctly. If you eliminate my early years of lightin' the woods up with arrows because I never practiced properly, and just count the years where I was consistantly shooting in the yards and on the 3D circuit then I'ld be in the very high 90's, but overall I'ld be way way down. And it was a buck and both shots were under 20 yards! I was 10 when that happened and when I was 12 I shot over a doe at 30 that I thought was 35 and when I was 14 I hit a branch and missed a doe by 10 feet. I just remembered that I shot another deer last year (pretty sure I hit him good), tracked him, but never found him. So I guess that drops my percentage down to 50%. UGH...that sucks. I've never lost a deer that I've hit, bow or rifle. The two misses were: I had just switched from shooting one pin to multiple pins and I put my 40 yard pin on a deer at 12 yards. Needless to say I missed WAY high. The other miss came when I dropped my release and tried to shoot fingers.........dumb mistake there. My kill/recovery percent is 94% My Kill/(clean) miss percent is 81% My Shot Opportunity/Kill percent is 92% - I thought this percentage was interesting (for me anyways). In 2004 I started passing on younger deer so over the last 2 years I have let alot of young deer walk. As best as I can figure it I have only taken 8% of my shot opportuniteis over the last 2 years. One was my first deer ever, a nice 8 point and I hit a limb, never touched the deer. The other was a paunch shot with very little penetration. Deer was quartering towards me and it appeared that the arrow deflected off the last rib and penetrated maybe 2 inches. Bought a new bow not long afterwards. 6sixpoint_nobrows Posted June 22, 2005 Report Share Posted June 22, 2005 Re: Whats your percentage?? im coming up on my 3rd season of bowhunting....my first year i made a lot of mistakes but never flung and arrow. and even encountered a monster 8 point which almost gave me a heart attack...lol...my second year i got a little smarter and a new bow and i shot 3 times...its still beyond my knowledge of why i missed because each time the deer never heard my bow go off, and everything was perfect...i guess i just may of missed judged the yardage.... so im 0 for 3... 0 % but i have a great feeling about this season! wish me luck Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It was a decent sized doe, and luck has it, I GREATLY misjudged the distance and shot well short of the deer. At least I didn't hit and wound it. So that means I have an awesome hit record of 0%.
