My dentist rules!

Well, TG's post made me want to share this little tidbit. I've always been terrified of the dentist...and HATE needles!

After like 10 years of avoiding it, I finally had to go in because of some pain. Well, I have a little early periodontal disease and a few cavities. Also got some good news...wisdom teeth are great...lol.

Anyway, I was freaking out the whole time, but went in for some fillings and a deep cleaning...and I gotta tell you, it was great. It really didn't hurt...other than some sensitivity on the newly-filled teeth for a couple days.

I still have the other half of my mouth to go--and can't wait to get it over with. Then, I'm going in EVERY six months no matter what. If this is the worst of it, regular checkups can't be that bad...lol

So if you're avoiding it--don't! If I could muster up the "courage" to do it...anyone can. I'm a chicken! lol

Re: My dentist rules!

Glad you found a good one. My wife has been a dental assistant for many years. Good dentists can do work that is nearly painfree.

She worked for a guy in Menomonee Falls, WI that was excellent.

Re: My dentist rules!

I go on regular check ups. I dont much like the teeth scrape and my dentist doesnt numb for fillings (unless they are deep). All and all its not that bad. Id rather go and have him take care of my teeth than deal with cavaties.

Oh and I dont have wisdom teeth. I was actually born without them. Its not very common but it happens (genetics). Im pretty happy about that. Ive seen people suffer through them.

Nope. He will offer a shot but its really not that bad. Its more like a little pressure and a little pain then OUCH! When it gets to that point he says, "If you can indure that for 1-4 seconds we can avoid the shot." That is a painful 1-4 seconds but I can live with it.

Re: My dentist rules!

I have not been in 8 years...the last time I was there he had to give me 11 needles to try to freeze me enough to get 1 filling in......I do not take to freezing very well...when I broke my finger and dislocated it they had to give me 6 shots to freeze it.My wife wants me to go again but I really don't want to...

Re: My dentist rules!

Atta boy!

My kids and I go religiously, in fact, my kids got their crowns sealed today--insurance picked up 100% cool.gif

I've been work free for over 10 years now I think. Just got cleared last week with my latest 6 month checkup.

We have a new dentist. My old one, Dr. Payne (no kidding), just retired and sold his practice to this young guy. He seems to be really good too. Great with the kids. In fact, today, when he was sealing my son's teeth, he filed down a snaggle tooth that's been bugging the crap out of me! And he didn't charge me, he was all giggly that I liked the result. LOL.

Anyway, yeah, keep up with the checkups Marky, you won't regret it.

Re: My dentist rules!

After reading this post...I'm realizing that I had a great tolerance for pain(which turned out not to be a good thing). I ended up with bone loss and having 28 teeth pulled in one sitting in "The Chair".

P.S. I can take out my dentures and floss now grin.gif
