lil hunter Posted June 23, 2005 Report Share Posted June 23, 2005 We've had the Blue Angels here a couple years in a row, for the Evansville Freedom Festival. Last year they didn't come, but this year they're back AGAIN. I live somewhat close to the riverfront, which is where the festival is, so the planes all fly around there, and turn around by my house. These things are so loud it's unbelievable. They were flyin around durin football this morning, and we had to scream at people less than 2 feet away from us, and they still couldn't here. These things are kinda fun to watch, but the noise is just ANNOYING. and it scares my dog too.lol ok, enough complainin. If any of you all are gonna be at the festival thing, send me a PM and we can meet up. There's hydroplane races almost all day Sunday, along with a couple other types of boat races, and air shows. Friday before the show, I heard them outside practicing. I wormed my way up onto a 16th floor balcony and one came directly overhead at what couldn't have been more than 100 feet....doing one of those low speed turn things. I was afraid someone was going to get blown off a balcony if he turned the engines our way. I could see for miles from that balcony and watched them do some absolutely amazing things. I've seen them several times including the first year they moved from the A-4s to the F-18s. I've tried to see the Thunderbirds fly but the ceiling was to low the year they were at the air show. Oh well...maybe another time. What's cool here in the DC area is the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds rotate every year at the Joint Services Open House at Andrews AFB.
