Re: Mississippi River Run

krimit; I wish you the best of luck on your trip.

I hope you are very experienced with your kayak, and that you are in good physical condition.

The Mississippi River can be treacherous and unforgiving.

There is a lot of debris floating down stream from only God knows where.

There is a lot of barge, riverboat, and tugboat traffic on the river.

The turbulence caused by these big boats is tremendous.

There are whirl-pools and under-currents that are absolute nightmares.

There is a proceedure for getting through the locks.(Do you and your friends know how?)

This type of trip can be a great and glorious time or a nightmare that you may not survive.

Chicago to St. Louis is a long trip. (about 300 mi.)

Cramps can kill you, or make you wish you were dead.

Not a trip I would recommend for anyone but those in the best of shape.

Sorry, I cannot be more encouraging, but I am concerned about the safety of such a journey.

I really do hope the best for you and also pray that you and your friends have done your homework.

Be extra careful and take nothing for granted on the Mississippi.

They didn't call it "Mighty" without a reason.

Remember it is raining like crazy north of you, and it will all flow down to the Big Muddy.

If you go, be extra careful.

I'll be thinking about you. ....popgun
