archerjg Posted June 30, 2005 Report Share Posted June 30, 2005 I went out today to find two of my ducks dead and partially eaten. I buried one last weekend the same way. Whatever has been getting them has been getting through 2"X4" wire and eating the eggs as well. I set a live trap tonight to see what I catch.I am thinking either a coon, possum, or maybe a weasel I am not sure though. I do know that this has to stop. Any ideas what it could be. The were like eating part of them or just killing them and the Amish guy has found raccoons getting them so he is in the process of killing a few coons so you do have the possibility of coons also. We have had problems with foxes getting our chickens though... You may want to sit out there at night or something with a .22 or stick a game cam out there if you have one. They just kill them and because they can't take them with them or get them through the wire, they'll kill another, hoping it will fit through easier than the others. A friend of mine lost most of his chickens that way, and half of them had their heads mutilated, from trying to pull them through the wire fence. I know folks who lost rabbits this way. No signs of anything getting in the fence and he had electric around the top and still finding dead rabbits with no heads.
