It could have been much worse, and luckily the kid didn't get killed. I will say though, that I found the comment about not knowing it was loaded funny. Not the accident, the comment..... My son (almost 10 years old) spent an hour yesterday arguing with me about why I should allow him and a friend to shot his bow out back without adult supervision. I told him accidents happen and he needed to have someone right there watching. (He and his friend then tried to get me to agree to letting them go over to his house to shoot B.B. guns with his grandmother watching from a window...another no-go in this household!) I just showed him the post and he understands even better why I won't even entertain the thought of allowing unsupervised shooting of any weapon, no matter how small! When my father was a kid his brother got mad at him and shot him in the knee with a broadhead. They are not mature enough to understand how dangerous guns and bows really are....educate your children well please!
