Gator Posted July 2, 2005 Report Share Posted July 2, 2005 Got home last night, wife tells me "houston, we have a problem", main breaker and several others had tripped. We had a problem with the main earlier in the week, it wasn't getting a good connection, baby got hot enough you couldn't touch it. Anyways, she reset everything, but our answering machine was screwed, phone, and we had no DISH. Call DISH, and I go out to look at the actual DISH, coax had come out of the connector, I climb up and take a look, HOLY SMOKES BATMAN, all 4 COAX are burnt/melted, a hole has been burned in the metal flashing on my roof!! I dunno what happened, but DISH is supposed to have a tech out Tue. , so all weekend, no TV, I mainly like to watch the news at night. It could have been worse from the looks of things, guess the house could have burned down. Now I am gonna have the actual dish removed from the house and put on a dadgum pole!!!! I dunno what happened to the dish.........wife said power hadn't been out long when she got home, and we didn't have any storms yesterday afternoon........I didn't see any evidence of a lightning strike either. The voltage the dish puts out to the lnbs through the coax is about 13-18 volts. My guess something shorted to it somewhere. Simple solution run new wire to the Dish.
