Venting for my wife

Man I'll tell you, some people have some nerve or else they just don't have any common sense.

Our neighbors have 4 kids. Two of them are older and 2 of them are around my boys age. First off, their parents never do anything with them and that's why they are always at our house playing outside with us in the evening. We are outside every evening unless it's raining doing kickball, baseball, football...whatever the case may be.

Well this lady likes to just pan her kids off on my wife during the day so she don't have to deal with them. Well, my wife cannot get things done around the house if other kids are over here. So she told this lady "Look, your kids can't come over until 3:00 from now on because I can't get anything done because I am always the one stuck outside watching them". "If they want to come over before 3:00, you need to come over as well to help watch them". Do you know this woman had the gull to say "Well that's not fair to me, I thought you were my friend" confused.gif

I told my wife, I think that woman is nuts! Seriously crazy.gif How is it not fair to her. If anything it isin't fair to my wife. So we boiled it down to we think this woman was using my wife as a daytime babysitter so she could slack off. These people are pigs anyway. My wife was inside their house once and never again since. It's a shame a nice area like this and a nice neighborhood like this nestled out in the woods and I get to live beside some whacko. So anyway, now this lady won't let her kids come over. She is punishing her kids because of her stupidity and selfishness. What a bum and low life mad.gif

Hey, I can't help we do things with our kids and have fun cool.gif My yard in the evenings is...well as the hip hoppers say "The bomb" grin.gif

Re: Venting for my wife

We live out in the boonies, but I feel your pain. My brother lives in a complex, and they have those troubles too.

I lived in the burbs growing up, and it must have been a conspiracy among all the moms in our neighborhood, you weren't allowed in anyone's houses and if you wanted to play outside, fine, but don't bug the parents until dad got home. grin.gif

Re: Venting for my wife

I am sure the kids will be allowed back to play soon. She will get tired of having them around and send them over. (at least that has always been my experience! crazy.gif ) I don't mind having half the neighborhood over because I know who my kids are playing with and I know what they are doing. But I do understand your wife wanting a little time to herself, raising two kids keeps you busy enough without adding another couple.

I have a 'friend' who has a son that is in my youngest son's class. She called me from Florida one day and asked if I could watch him for just one day because his grandmom couldn't take him any more. Well, one day turned into three!! I had it out with her when she finally returned home (out of ear shot of the boy, it wasn't his fault mom's a freak) and she was upset with me, but it was less than a month later and she was calling me to babysit again!

It's great that you have been able to be an example of a healthy, happy family unit for these kids because it's obvious they aren't getting this example at home!

Re: Venting for my wife

Man, I know you are living where you are because you are in the military and stuff. Nothing you could do about that. Sounds like you make the best of it. Some people are just crazy and live life looking through a very selfish set of eyes. They can only see their own burdens.

But, that is just another reason to hate urban living. When I lived in the city during college, we had the fortune of having great neighbors. But I can't imagine paying the price that houses are and then get hosed with a bad set of neighbors.

Re: Venting for my wife

You know, we been lucky in our base housings though....unitl now.

It all boils down to spending time with the kids. I couldn't just come home and ignore them and sit in front of the TV all evening. If I would do that, I would feel selfish and feel like I failed my duties as a father. Somedays I really don't feel like doing anything but I always try to make that attempt. Like yesterday, my neck hurt like heck from this wonderful physical training that we do confused.gifgrin.gif but I managed to get out there and play some kickball and throw football. Some parents simply amaze me. When my kids grow up, I want them to know that they had a father that was in their lives and not just a someone who lived in the same house as they did.

Her kids are good kids they just need fathered and disciplined. They have smart mouths for kids their age. I think by now they know I have zero tolarance for their mouths. I send them home if they even attempt one time to get smart with me. I don't tolarate it from my kids and I sure as heck aint going to tolarate it from someone elese kid.

I think the lady is nuts personally. I don't think she is koo koo for cocoa puffs either, I think she is koo koo for something else wink.gifgrin.gif

Re: Venting for my wife

We have some of those around here. One group we call the skinnies cause they all look malnutritioned. All three of them have ADD/ADHD. She would tell her kids to go play outside and they would show up at my house and start throwing rocks or cussing at my kids. Finally one day I yanked one up and carried him home. The whole way he kept saying "Hit me, come on hit me" and the whole time I kept thinking someone needs to hit your dad for not taking care of this. Anyway got him home and told his mom what happened and she said I don't believe that, he never acts like that around me". I just sat there dumbfounded and told her if I catch those little mongrels at my house again that she would be paying for any damage and her husband and I would be having words. Now she keeps them locked up in the house. That kid that I took home and told his mom got kicked out of school the 3rd day he was there. So now she just keeps him at home and says she is homeschooling him. I think I am looking at the next serial killer.

I think Huntinginmaine nailed that one!!!! grin.gifgrin.gif

I really feel sorry for a parent(and even more for the children)who don;t care enough to spend time with and really RAISE their children. Seems this day and age too many people are too busy, or don;t want to be bothered with their kids!!! Makes you wonder why they had them in the first place!!!!! crazy.gif

But I guess I just cherish my kids alittle more- with all my wife's health problems, I feel BLESSED to have 2 healthy happy children, who I thank the Lord for each and every day!!!! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Re: Venting for my wife

THis Thread reminded me of a great song by Billy Ray Cyrus- BUSY MAN. ABout a man who neglects his family for work, but it applys here too:

BUSY MAN by Billy Ray Cyrus

There's a little boy out in the driveway , His basket ball in hand

he says "Daddy can we play a little one on one."

He pats him on the back and says "Not now, son. I'm a busy man."

His sister's out on the sidewalk setting up a lemonade stand

she says "Daddy, don't you wanna buy a glass from me?"

He says "Maybe later. Can't you see I'm a busy man?"

CHORUS:

Gotta go Gotta run Hit it hard and get it done

Everyone can see you're going far

You've got responsibli-ties A crazy schedule that you keep

And when you say that time's a-wasting

You don't know how right you are, Busy Man

There's a woman in the bedroom crying Saying, "I thought we had plans?"

He said, "Honey, I'm sorry. I'll make it up........

when the job slows down and I'm not such .....a busy man."

Go to chorus

Have you ever seen a headstone with these words?

"If Only I had spent more time at work".

There's a call one day from the office "We need you down in Birming-ham"

He says, "No way. The weekend's mine.

I've got plans with my kids and a date with my wife. I'm a busy man."

Gotta go Gotta run Take a break and have some fun

Those who love you most say, you've come far

Got some new priori-ties in that schedule that you keep

And when you say that time's a-wasting Now you know how right you are..................

Busy Man

Re: Venting for my wife

Is it possible to vent vicariously thru another? confused.gif

Also, a MARINE calling his neighbor a whacko? She must be a real piece of work. grin.gif

Now on the the crux of my comment. When I was a kid, we had a neighbor that always hung out at my house. Nobody really liked him, but his mom would lock him out every morning so she could sleep all day without him being a distraction. My parents always let him stay over until 8:00 when his dad got home and we'd take him if we went anywhere. That stopped the day my mom had th audacity to ask his mother for some cash to help feed him when we took him to Six Flags. You see, his mom was busy baby sitting a bottle of gin most of the time and couldn't be bothered by this 8 year-old kid hanging around, it aggravated her hang over too much.

But this story has a happy ending for everyone involved. The dad divorced the mom. He took the boy. She kept the gin. And he never came to our house again.
