Ohiobucks
Re: FFA I was in FFA my sophomore year, then went on to the career center my junior and senior years. Learned a lot about parliamentary procedure, small engines, cutting torches and welding.
Tominator
Re: FFA The FFA program at our school has incredible backing because our district is so rural, but the program is actually pretty crappy, and I blame that on the combination of community members fussing, crappy teachers, and a reputation as being a blow-off class. It's too bad because we have a great agricultural base in the community and some good kids.

oo_buck
Re: FFA No, I wasn't..... I will say that the program seemed to be filled with young men who were definitely interested in improving their crop yeilds....... I won't say what crop they were raising.... Not all of them, but some of them......

Guest cowpoke
Re: FFA I was in FFA, we had a really strong program at my high school. Had 3 full time ag teachers. I was an ag-teacher/ FFA advisor for a couple years after college. It was at one of, if not the, poorest run school I ever saw. I still work in agriculture
texastrophies
Re: FFA I was in all 4 years of H.S., and actually took two periods my senior year. We had a very strong program. Numerous students won grand champion in the steer division at the Houston rodeo/show. That included a very good payoff, scholarship & new truck. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the big winners at the show, but definately consider myself a winner because of the program & our teachers (3). Learned a lot of stuff in the shop end of it (welding, cutting, etc.) and learned a lot of values from the classroom end of it. Will not force my son to take it when he gets there, but I will highly suggest it.

ThethirdI
Re: FFA To practice brotherhood and cooperation and to develop those qualities of leadership that we should all possess. Does that answer your question? I don't know why I remember that after all these years but I remember it like it was yesterday.
