SEARS!

I am going to vent about SEARS and their "free in home estimate" program. I had called them backthe end of June sometime and they had quickly responded saying they would set up an appointment for a free in home estimate for central air. Well the appointment was set for July 6th at 8pm. Needless to say, they called me but not to confirm the appointment, but to cancel. They offered me $125.00 off the install price should I still go with them. Not that big of a deal, but I already had one other estimate for the job from a local service here and they said they could have it done in a day and a half. Well, knowing Sears reputation, I have put off this other contractor service waiting for the "quote from Sears" which was rescheduled for 3 weeks later to the day. Last night I get a call from Sears to confirm the appointment, I let them know that I am all set and we will be home. The woman on the phone was adament that we "both be here (the wife and I) to make decisions". I told her that it did not matter, someone if not both of us would be here.

TODAY... the service guy calls and leaves a message of my machine that his name is "William, and they have overbooked, please call Sears at this 800 number". I am so mad right now. I call back and after being on hold for several minutes waiting to straighten this mess out the woman finally gets on the phone and I vent. I am currently waiting for a manager to call me (she said approximately 30 minutes), and I am going to tell them they are a joke as far as I am concerned. I could have had central air for almost a month now, and I have not even got them here yet! Summer is only 4 weeks longer in my area and then its practically heating season. Either I smell "good perk" or I am filing a complaint with the company. They could have cancelled someone else who has not been cancelled yet instead of me TWICE! mad.gif

Re: #$^$^% SEARS!

They did the same thing to us when we were looking at getting estimates for windows and siding. Had the appt. all set up and the called and cancelled. They asked if I wanted to reschedule and I basically told them to stick it.

I say let the Kung-Fu bear loose.

Re: #$^$^% SEARS!

I have been there too Ken, waited around for a service guy to show up to install cable. I left work early and lost 2 hours wages, he never showed!! No call from the company either. I called them the next day because I waited till 6PM and he was a no show. Well his wife was having a baby so that made everything all right. I said, thats funny, my wife had a baby and I still had time to call people that same day and tell them of my situation.

You know what it is, lazy inconsiderate people and these same people **** and moan why jobs are going overseas and they can't find a good paying job here. Some companies service just sucks!! frown.gif

I wish I could call my boss and say, "well Pat, I'll be there something between 5 and 10!"

Hope you and your family cool down soon with some central air Ken, its definitely been a summer when its nice to have it!!

Re: #$^$^% SEARS!

I really don't think Sears is worth the effort Ken. They'd have to practically install the unit for free for me to go with them.

I think I mentioned before in your first AC post, that when we were getting estimates, Sears was by far the highest, and I'd bet $20 they'll be higher in your case too.

I'd suggest you get a few more estimates with local companies and forget the Sears clowns.

Re: #$^$^% SEARS!

i know EXACTLY what you mean....i don't think those people at sears know what they are doing and would never recommend anyone to buy any type of appliance there....my parents built a new house a couple years ago and with the move they decided to buy a new washer and dryer....well about 2 years after we got them the washer started making a VERY loud popping noise...we lets just say that the Sears Repair guy made a regular visit to our house AT LEAST once a month for about a 8 or 9 months and they just kept giving my parents the same old story..he would turn it on for a minute or so and then turn it off (which is when it made the noise...when it was finished going through all the cycles) and wouldn't hear the noise...then one day my parents were gone and i had to let the repair guy in and he tried telling me the same thing he told them. already being a little irritated i said "look, you guys keep coming out here month after month and doing the same thing...let it go through the whole cycle and shut off and then you'll see"...so he sat there while it went through and then BOOM someone finally heard the noise....i asked him "now how hard was that?" well needless to say...our washer has been working great since then smile.gif and with all the times they came out to "FIX" it...everything on this inside is brand new... man some of those people can be ignorant sometimes!!

[ QUOTE ]

Ken, I work retail for a living and there is absolutely no excuse for this to happen.....I would unload on them an see what happens..... crazy.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

They are now using the put on hold, transfer and ignore method! I have been round and round with these clowns all afternoon and I am so fed up! mad.gif

They now claim that the service man told them, that I called him and CANCELLED!! Why would I be this upset and trying to get to the bottom of this if I was the one who needed to cancel. Between my wife and I we have spoke to numerous different people, all claiming "no manager is available"! Finally my wife speaks to a woman by the name of BETH RICHARDSON, and she puts her in touch with another woman from Florida, (my wife has her name at work)...and they tell her, there is nothing we can do for you, we won't give you any percentage off, and basically "too bad". My wife them that we would be writing a letter to the complaint department and would handle it that way. I spend a lot of money every year at Sears and so does my family. I cannot believe the crappy service they provide. My wife told them that we were not even going to waste our time with them because if we can't get them here to give us the free estimate...how would we EVER get them here to service it!! mad.gif

Beware of the HORRIBLE service SEARS provides and the TERRIBLE sarcastic customer service also...

Re: SEARS!

Due to the efforts of one woman there who actually felt bad over what Sears had done, she sent her tech man from her area (Rochester) to our house (6 hours away) tomorrow night and he is supposed to make a "considerable discounted offer". After getting down to the heart of the problem, it boiled down to one man lying to us and another telling us basically "too bad". The one who lied was the guy who said he "was overbooked". They checked his schedule and told us that in no way was this man overbooked, he lied. As for the big mouth (upper level manager) that basically told us too bad, after I told him that I was posting this on all of the forums on the internet that I am a current and active member of with his name plastered all over it as to the reason why this all occurred, he for some reason changed his tune and gave the green light to the woman who helped me so much. I told her that for the sake of the problems being semi worked out, I would pass on adding the names to these posts for the time being.

Now for the killer part of it...after telling her I was posting this in every forum I am part of and sending this in emails in chain form to pass along to everyone I know with Mr Bigmouth's name attached.. she giggled and said to me..."I respect you for what you are going to do" and then something to the effect that, "you got wronged and your not just going to take it"! grin.gif She was a very nice lady...its too bad I had to wade through a bunch of ID 10 T's to find her and leave such a nasty taste in my mouth for Sears. Oh well, they did it... not me.

The power of promising 1 man... I would plaster his name all over the internet about how he treated me and the nature of the body of the email he sent...who'd a thunk it! grin.gif
