VermontHunter
YOU CAN KEEP YOUR JOBS...... Man I did a barter trade with my father-in-law and I think I got the short end of the stick.... I traded my services which was to paint his house and garage, even for a new VORTEX Duel Exhuast for my truck.......which sounded great at the time.... Well I spent the whole weekend prepping and painting, for a total of 23 hrs. for everything,,,,needless to say I'm beat, burnt to a crisp,,,and just can't believe I did all this in that amount of time.... ,,just plain NUTS,,NUTS I'm telling you.... You painters out there can keep your trade all to yourselves,,,man that kind of work is just plain back, and feet breaking going up and down ladders all day long.....YOU PEOPLE JUST AREN'T PAID ENOUGH PERIOD....You can bet I don't want your job... Griz
Re: HOUSE PAINTERS !!! Painting is not for everyone. It takes patience and time. I use to tell my crew. If it was that easy...We wouldn't be here doing it... I use to paint houses for a living and loved it and also did alot of drywall taping and finishing... Yeah your right it is hard work. I've been on this ranch now for 9 years and to tell ya the truth. I miss it... I guess it's been in my blood for alot of years...
VermontHunter
Re: HOUSE PAINTERS !!! All I can say is before anyone decides to call a painter a whimp,,,,,walk in their shoe's for a day, and I'm positive your tune will change....... Especially on a 90* day with a time limit on the job...... So when one says he gets $20.00 per/hr. or contracts for the job at what you seem rediculous for painting,,just try it once. You will change your mind in a heartbeat,,,and that you can take to the BANK....
buckee
Re: HOUSE PAINTERS !!! [ QUOTE ] Well I spent the whole weekend prepping and painting, for a total of 23 hrs. [/ QUOTE ] Did you give it 2 coats?? It takes me an average of 2 weeks to do a regular size rancher The rancher I am working on now has 63 hrs into it and still needs the second coat. I have to walk away from it for a week to do an interior condo and then back to it again.
Tominator
Re: HOUSE PAINTERS !!! Yep. A good part of my time in the service was spent, chipping, sanding, priming and painting boats, ships, bulkheads, overheads, decks, etc., etc. I think some of you know I now paint for my dad instead of buying him another shirt or tie for Christmas, birthday, or Father's day. It's tough work for sure.
