Jeramie
Yep, time to step in and see the Doc. Ive been to the doctor probably twice in the last 15 years. Sadly my list is mounting and its time to get it done. I have several concerns that are finally going to drag me in. Im actually healthy as a horse but ive had some joint pain for years. As of the last couple of years my right shoulder (rotator) has been BAD. If I throw a football or something more then a couple of times I will have bad pain for at least a day. Thursday we went with the church to a local Amusment park and I hit a "How tough a guy are ya" punch bag game about 3-times. I couldnt be outdone so I really loaded up and rocked the machine. Seriously, three times and I still cant even sleep on my right shoulder right now. It hurts to raise my arm above chest high. I also have a spot on my back that has changed colors. It started as a tiny little red mole looking thing and now its brown. And last but not least is cholesterol. I have never had mine checked and im 29. My family (on my dad's side) has a "condition" where our blood is way to thick and we have a very high clotting factor. Its really hard on our arteries and heart. The heart doctor told my dad that our family should be getting checked as young as 13 and possibly taking asprin every day. It is somewhat concerning. My resting heart rate is in the mid to low 50's. If I prick my finger I bearly bleed. I cant think of a time when my heart topped 100. When I do cardio and such it ususlly hits high 80's and low 90's. Pretty crazy stuff. Its finally enough on my list to get me to make an appointment. It seems kind of foolish to be like that but im sure im not the only one (excuses I know). I rarely even take any form of medicine. I bet I dont take Tylenol once a month..... anyone else pretty hard headed about going to the doctor?

[/ QUOTE ] Another excuse for not winning the archery shoot this weekend hope everything goes ok at the doc's office. better to be safe since you're getting so old hope your shoulder gets feeling better and you REALLY need to get that spot looked at. I'm sure it's nothing but no need to take a chance. good luck todd
Tominator
Re: Time for an overhaul! [ QUOTE ] anyone else pretty hard headed about going to the doctor? [/ QUOTE ] LMAO--can't afford to now brother. So that rotator lifting is getting to you too eh? See, that's what you get for giving it to me and killing my shoulder. j/k--I think you're doing the right thing. Fact of life I'm afraid that as we all get older, all kinds of medical things change, and it's best to catch things early before they get too far along. bfletch7441
Re: Time for an overhaul! I don't like going to the doctor's office by any mean's, but I don't mind going if there's something wrong. This is the only body I've got, and I want it working for as long as I need it. I swallowed my pride and started a yearly exam 5 year's ago when I was 23 at the urging of my soon-to-be wife. Like you, I won't take medicine, i.e. - tylenol, penicillin, or definitely not perscription pain med's, I usually just drink more OJ and that tends to help. A regular check up, or a visit if I'm sick or hurting for more than 4-5 day's, is a must for me anymore, especially if I'm going to be here for the next 50, 60, or hopefully more years. This also coincided with my brother being diagnosed with cancer at 31. He was bullheaded about going to the doctor too until he passed out at home and was rushed to the hospital not breathing. He ignored symptoms as just "getting older", when it was a tumor the size of a volleyball wrapped around his lungs and esophagus. He came through fine, and has been in remission for 3 year's now, but he'll be the first to tell anyone that they should get to the doctor when there is something wrong. If not for yourself and your own health, do it for your children, wife, or other family. Ben
Orion_70
Re: Time for an overhaul! I try and go for a checkup every year now. I figure I'd rather be proactive than reactive.. I get all the blood work done and stuff, hey, that's what insurance is for
