hutchies Posted August 2, 2005 Report Share Posted August 2, 2005 My wife got another job today working in the finance department at the local Honda, Suzuki dealership. I have known the owner there for all of my life. Anyway she has to work for and employee staffing company for the first three months. I know that what employee staffing really means is they take part of your money and can fire you at any time. She is making $2 an hour less than before but is working 40 hours instead of 15-20 so she will be making more than before plus she does not go into work til 9 or 10 so she will be able to put the oldest on the bus. After 3 months they evaluate and decide if they want her on full time. If so she gets a raise plus commission. She starts next Thursday. Can you tell I am excited yet? A lot of companies do that instead of hiring a person and putting them on a probationary status for the first 3 months or so. If the temp agency hires a dud it all falls back on the temp agency. My wife experienced the same thing at a major bank here in the Twin Cities. They had a high turnover rate of people in the first few months of employment, so it was a benefit to the bank to use the temp agency to do the "head hunting" duties and to serve as a screening process for employees the bank might want to put on the payroll permanently. They just informed her that she would be working for the temp agency for the first 90 days. She submitted resume and took interview at the business.
