Velvetless bucks?

So far this year, has anybody seen any bucks w/o velvet yet or with the velvet hanging off? I want to get a pic of a buck this year with the velvet hanging off its antlers or with the rack all bloody after losing it. Anyone? Anyone?

One more thing, what happens to the velvet after they lose it? Do they eat it? That's what I read somewhere..

Re: Velvetless bucks?

I read an article once that had some guy that studied when deer dropped their velvet. What he came up with was that deer in his area (New York) deer shed their velvet in the first week of September. From what I remember in the article the author noted some deer eating their velvet, but most of it is just dropped on the ground or rubbed off on trees.
