RV Awning

Re: RV Awning

My suggestion would be to try and repair the awning that you have instead of trying to buy a new one.

I had a Carefree awning on my travel trailer that got twisted and unraveled but got it fixed for about $300. A new awning is around $1400.

Just about any of the RV repair joints should be able to fix the awning you have.

I'll bet that next time a storm is brewing you will roll it up and lock it down. It sure can be an expensive lesson.

Re: RV Awning

hobie, I don't want you to think I'm digging at you. I did the same thing myself, twice.

Did the springs that roll it up break or the braces that hold it to the trailer?

Or did the fabric come completely out of the roller?

When the fabric became detached from the roller on mine, I was able to trim the fabric and re-attach it to the holding bar.

Re: RV Awning

get back with the insurance man. he's required to fix your awning, not just give you a check. ask him where you can take your camper and get it fixed for the 600. he gave you. if he can't, then get some bids and show them to the adjuster. if the adjuster will not co-operate, contact your state attorney general with exactly what happened. your problem will immediately disappear.
