dogdoc
This question is for anyone who has hunted Africa? i was watching Today's Bowhunter on TOC and they were bow hunting in Africa? Here is my question? What is the point of hunting Zebras? One of the bowhunters killed a Zebra with his bow. Now don't get me wrong---I'm all for legal hunting but when I saw this I felt a little sad. It was almost like shooting my daughter's pony---it's a HORSE. Do the locals actually eat the meat of the Zebra--if that is the case I have no problem as long as the animal wasn't wasted? Is there an over-population problem that is causing habitat problems? just curious thanks todd
JimT
Re: Africa hunters--question??? I have never been there, but did see a show once where the said that the zebra would be consumed. Also, the said zebras can be very mean.... Even still, I would not shoot one.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Africa hunters--question??? Doc---I went to South Africa in 02. A zebra was the one animal I wanted. To me it says AFRICA. I've wanted a zebra rug ever since I saw "Daktari". Every animal that is killed is consumed by the local. Even the entrails are dried & used. Zebra are prolific----there is an over supply. The actual hunt was fun & challenging. They have been hunted by lions for eons. They are NOT a domesticed animal by any means. Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Africa hunters--question??? Yes, I got a well marked stallion. Lots of marks from fights with other stallions & plents of scars from thorns that seem to grow on every bush or tree over there. CB
