buckee
My good ol Nellie ...she was a natural. Here she is a 5 months old after her first days hunt. I trained her with a pheasant wing on a flyrod in the back-yard. When we went hunting that day, there were two hunters just coming out of the field with a mature lab and a mature golden retriever. They said they had already hunted the entire property and chased all the birds away. I told them we were just there to hopefully have some fun. They laughed, I laughed and then Nellie and I went hunting the heavy cover along the fields where the big dogs dared not go...LOL I wish I still had her. buckee
Re: Here\'s a pheasant dog for ya I could never get her to retrieve, but she was a natural flusher. And she always signaled me with a whimper just before the bird went up. I always loved that when she was down in a gully or out of sight in a hedge-row. You'd hear that little whimper, bring the gun up and sure enough...cackle, cackle, cackle...out he'd come
