Hey fellas. I know everybody runs into spots during the hunting season and dont have time to build stands. I would like to have a climbing stand for those situations. Alot of times Ill be hunting in one spot and stumble across an even better spot and not have time to get a stand up so therefore I want a climbing stand where I can just climb on up and not have to worry about it. Can anybody reccomend a good one that doesnt cost so much????-tim

Re: Climbing Stands????

I like the features and comfort of the API Shooting Star. Very easy to use and only 18 lbs. I have used my for 3 yrs now and nothing has worn out or not worked properly. Now priced at around $200 but worth every penny. I cilmb up as high as I want and with a lot more considence. Quiet climbing and descending and no squeaks when standing or sitting for a shot. Also has a foot rest and a swing away bar for sitting while climbing.

Re: Climbing Stands????

Two years ago I got one of the climbers that wal-mart sells. It was ok. It was inexpensive and it got me up a tree. I havn't used it since but I may try it again this fall when I go coyote hunting.

Later on I went to the big sport show in Harrisburg PA. All the major companies were there and I could try them all out. I learned one thing. You get what you pay for. I know that it is close to deer season but if I were you I would borrow a friends or try a few others before you buy.
