Reloader
Anyone have a TRUE story of a redneck they know trying to show off and proving their redneck status in the process? Here are a few from my family: Cousin that watched some kids shooting doves and missing and joked that he could shoot better with his pistol than they were doing with shotguns. When someone called him on it he pulled his .357 revolver and dropped 3 birds with 3 shots from the next set to fly by. A friend of my father used to do a trickshot where he would throw a knife at a wood block then in the same motion draw his cowboy action pistol and fire at the same block. The trick was that the bullet would get to the block before the knife did and then the knife would hit the bullet hole.

Today it would be illegal but when it happened (late 60's) gun regulations were fairly lax out in the nowheresville he did it in. One other piece of info is that they were in the California desert outside of Colussa...still not the safest thing but not likely to hit anyone out there...nothing but open land for several hundred miles. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! I didn't originate it, but I have done it. I'll bet someone that I can hold a golf ball in my right hand above my head, drop it and draw and fire my single action before it hits the ground. Not too difficult, right? Then I tell them I can draw and fire my pistol 6 times before it hits the ground. Of course they'll always take that bet. What I do is hold the ball up, release it and draw my pistol, then catch the falling ball in the empty holster! I then take 6 leisurely shots, reach into the holster, take the ball out and drop it. Nick
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! I got a redneck story. Theres a family friend that deer hunts up north with us on the opener of gun deer season. He moved up here from Arkansas quite a few years ago and hes what we call a "hillbilly". We got camp all set up the day before the gun season and decided to go to town to get something to eat. As we were driving down the road, a squirrel ran across the road in front of us. This guy slams on the breaks, runs to the back of his truck and pulls out a .22 an was hot on the squirrels trail like a hound dog. After 10 minutes or so he popped back onto the road with the squirrel in hand!!! He put it in the back of his truck and continued on with the trip to town. My dad and I were in tears we were laughing so hard.

TexasDeerHunter
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! Non hunting related redneck moment......My cousin graduted from Texas A&M, so we had a party for her. A bottle of wine was bought and we decided to open it up. Not thinking to get a cork screw, we had to improvise. I came up with the idea to use a 3in drywall screw and a pair of pliers. Worked well. My aunt took a picture but I don't have it to post. Guess I can dub my invention the "AGGIE CORKSCREW".
Tominator
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! Does eating road kill count? I guess I can attest to 2 things that I would consider as redneck. #1--I shoot doves while grilling dinner. I'll load the Benelli, light the grill, start grilling, and any dove that flies over the house or back yard gets shot at. #2--I use the roof of my house as a makeshift spotting tower for my back field. Last year I was only 70 yards away from connecting on a decent 10pt deer that was chasing a hot doe in the neighborhood. I spotted the deer 2 nights in a row from my roof top. Alisha
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! Last fall my uncle, dad, and I were all sitting in a gazebo that my cousin Melissa uses to throw parties in. We had all just come in from a long morning of hunting and were just sitting around shooting the breeze when suddenly dad says..... I think I see movement up at one of the feeders (200 yards away). He grabs his Remington 7mm, lays it across the table, props it up with a set of binoculars and proceeds to fire off a shot which blows a nice big burn hole in the edge of the tablecloth. (my cousin still hasn't figured out how it got there) Dad then takes off on his 4 wheeler, stops at the feeder and comes back down to the gazebo where he holds up one of the biggest grey squirrels I've ever seen. Not real redneck but still yet darn funny.

Newarcher
Re: Redneck Showoffs!!! My cousin lived high on a hill that went sharply down to the road bed then back up just as high if not higher on the other side. They had a barn where they hung tobacco in there and kept stepping in groundhog holes. Long story short, we see mr. groundhog and my uncle gets his 410 out with a slug to shoot it. Apparently he flinched on the shot because he 86'd the thin power line (about the size of my pinky). He somehow managed to do it again a couple years later...all on accident because it caused him a bunch of grief when it happened.
