Washi
I had a shot at a buck this morning but I messed it up. He came in on my left side of my blind and I saw he was a 3 pointer. Fork on one side and spike on the other. Then a bunch of questions started running through my head. Should I save my tag for a bigger buck? It's raining, should I shoot even though the tracking might be tough? Should I shoot him just to get him out of the herd? So I decide to shoot. I put the bow up when he puts his head down for a second but as I was about to draw he starts walking at an angle towards my right side. If I waited any longer he would get too far to my right to shoot. So I draw anyway and he sees me and takes about two jumps and over the fence and just walked slowly away. Maybe I should just save my tag for a nice buck. It will be my first bow deer.

Missed160
Re: 1 missed opportunity Everyone misses.. Be glad you totally missed.. And also be happy it wasn't a monster. Now you need to take what went wrong & learn from it, make sure next time you decide to take a shot you end up with a deer on the ground. The deer saw me drawing and took off so I never had the chance to shoot. I will think of this as a learning experience. This is my fourth year bowhunting so I have been learning a while. When i started i thought i was the only one that it happened to--about a dozen times
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: 1 missed opportunity Its all part of the game next time you will wait and draw back at the right moment then it will be game over. I think you showed great restraint on not taking the risky shot after he jumped the fence it will all come together for you soon enough.
