TOMSD5
got to my hunting area about 5:15 am and got busted by some deer in my food plot. Went on to my stand and swated sqeters till daylight. as the sun peeked up in her tender light the woods also started to wake up, the sound of rustling leaves, acorns dropping, birds cherping. this was wonderful to experience again. long about 7:00 or so i catch movement down in the holler. as i strain my eyes to see in the shadows a doe appered. She come up the trail feeding on acorns or akerns as we call them here. suddenly i caught more movement back in the brush and shadows. It was her two fawns, one of them must have bee a crybaby cause it bleeted the whole time they fed in front of me. I watched them for about 30 minutes or so then they went back into the shadows of the thick pine on the ridge in front of my stand. i never saw anything else so i left at 10:00. had to get some sleep cause i worked until 2:00 in the morning and got up at 4 to head out. evening... met up with my nephew and 2 of our friends and hunted my nephews place...we all saw lot's of deer moving but everone waswaiting on a buck except me .... ...i was going to get me a doe first thing then wait on a buck....wrong ...about 3:00 a big old doe walked up ithought 15 yards to my right, so i draw back and let loose an arrow and it bit the dust...man i was in shock...i thought what did that arrow hit...which i had a open shot at her...well i sat there until someone on an ajoining farm decieded they would have a band party in the middle of there place with music blasting so loud a deaf person could here it 5 mile away ... .i looked upand saw my neaphew coming on his 4wheeler to pick me up and call it a day. we stepped of my shot and it was 22 steps to where the doe was standing...man was i off.... sunday morn got up and went hunting but, the winds from rita were real strong. hunted until 7:30 came home and went to church which by then it was raining.. had to work this evening but will be on the stand first thing tomorrow morn....no, there were no animals taken this weekend by my bunch but it was still great to get out and play in God's great outdoors.... ladydiehard
Re: opening weekend tn Sounds like a great day outdoors even without bagging a deer. I too enjoyed the outdoors Saturday morning even though I missed...twice. But I'll be out there again and the leaves are starting to turn and its starting to feel more like fall.
