Location is going to be determined by the wind. I only get a week a year to bow hunt so I will be in the stand daylight to dark. With only a week I really stay alert. Practice, can't kill a deer unless you can be accurate. 3.) Patience, it's easy to get discouraged, but you have to wait them out too. Sure killing deer is the final outcome of hunting but to me success is having close encounters with deer whether or not I choose to shoot. Killing deer is a bonus. With that in mind here's my top 3. 1. Spend a lot of time in the stand. 2. Putting in the scouting time to choose good stand locations. 3. By knowing the exact yardages for bowhunting no need to doubt your judgements anymore and you can better concentrate on making a good hit. So far I'm 2 for 2 this yr.
