TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread Hey, as long as we beat your team, that's all I am concerned about. I mean we just didn't whoop them any old way. They had a 4...you get that...4 point lead over the Bruins and CHOKED. But I guess that's the Edmonton way. Full of chokers

Boynton, is expected to be playing tonite, but there's still no word on Hannu..... sure hope he's playing instead of Raycroft.....even Thomas would be better in net.... TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread Well on the bright side, Worcester is getting an AHL team back starting 2006/7 season. Worcester Sharks! Of course their NHL team will be San Jose but at least it's a closer drive for us. We'll support them while we are here. Plus Lowell sucks this year
VermontHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread Man this team is getting real depressing to watch as of late..... Mike if I had access to more AHL coverage I think I would convert to watching that..... This **** foot no hitting league is getting real boring to watch.... Shaun_300
Re: Official Hockey thread I just got back from the Corel Centre, dang it what a crappy game! I agree Luke, this BS no hitting is getting really stupid, a player can hardly look at another without getting a penalty! And the refs sure favoured San Jose tonight, good grief! Final score was 2-0. That's the first time I've been to a game in my life where Ottawa hasn't scored a goal.
superguide
Re: Official Hockey thread Just watched the highlights of the Kings/Bruins maybe Boston should have a little ceremony before each game where they introduce the defence to the goalie-they left him hung out to dry all night long. I think the Bruins should bring in Cam Neeley or somebody to coach them put some pride back in the uniform-guys like him and Terry O'Reilly must have nightmares about what's going on there. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't that statement the truth.... It wasn't only the D-Men superguide Raycroft has been letting so many soft goals in game after game, it just takes the intensity right out of the rest of the players... But this NO contact rule that NHL has invoked this season is the real problem... The Bruins were called on 3 plays that I can think of right off the top of my head where there was only a bump and they called it roughing or hooking... ,,,, And these players today are getting whimmpier, they won't even play with a slight strain.... What happened to those players that played with hundreds of stitches, and broken bones ??? And I'll tell ya, as you already know,, when a player invited you to a dance,, you bought the tickets and supplied the knock out.... Lacatoure tried to go with 3 different players through out the game and they would have none of it... I WANT THE GAME OF OLD BACK !!
superguide
Re: Official Hockey thread Well Vermont if you really want to scrap-you scrap that trying to go is just posturing-playing tough after the whistle-there are lots of teams still playing good physical hockey(watch any Doin Phaneuff shift lol). Like I said if you truly want to fight there's no escaping it.
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread [ QUOTE ] Like I said if you truly want to fight there's no escaping it. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. Last night in the 3rd peroid, Lacatour(sp) tried to go with a few of the kings and they wouldn't budge.....if that's what your talking about And he was trying hard too. He never has that much ice time and he was purposly put out there for extended peroids of time to get the team riled up and again, none of the kings would budge. I guess they figured that already had us 6-0 so why bother
superguide
Re: Official Hockey thread Well take from somebody whose played that role to a small extent if you truly want to fight somebody you fight him-if he was sent out to initiate at 6-0 that's just poor coaching-and believe me if he truly wanted to go he'd of found a way. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread Well I couldn't tell you about poor coaching. I don't know anything about coaching, I am a fan. To me, if your down by 6 with less than 5 minuets left to play in the game, who cares, just start fighting, you have nothing to lose except maybe a fine in todays NHL if your the instigator. But then again, I am a fan, not a hockey coach so therefore my thoughts on it are different than yours. Isibister tried to go with someone too not long after the face-off towards the end but they called him for roughing He slap one of the Kings in the face with his glove I really thing Lacatour wanted to fight. He was ready. The announcers kept on showing him talk crap to the other team as they would form up for the faceoff. After the one face off, he stood there actually waiting right after a face off but the other guy sped off. I mean sure, if he really wanted too he could of went up and jack the guy in the jaw but you have to be carefull doing it too, you don't want to draw fines to yourself. Like I said, I think he really wanted too but no one else did....at least from my perspective
drkillemquick
Re: Official Hockey thread But if you start a fight with less than 5 minutes left, you get suspended, and fined and your coach gets fined!
VermontHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread You know I could really care less if the Bruins didn't win every night,, but atleast show some intensity, and grit.... I think this is exactly what Isbister and Lacatoure were trying to get across so late in the game.... You could count on a couple good fights in any game you watched before the lockout season,, but now you get called if you bump a guy,,, to me this is going to destroy the game of hockey. A little toe to toe dancing added to the game... And as far as the Bruins season,, they only have to look at the coaching staff and GM.... It's just too bad, I had such high hopes for this season....Maybe the second half after the allstar break they can get something going... TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread [ QUOTE ] But if you start a fight with less than 5 minutes left, you get suspended, and fined and your coach gets fined! [/ QUOTE ] Key word...START. I have seen several fights this year with under 5 mins left in game and nothing happened. Only if you are pentalized for "Instigator". How many fights do you see that take on an instigator call as well? Not very many. That's why I don't understand why there are so little fights this year. It's like the players didn't get the memo or something. They must get all their info from the internet where you see things like "NHL players can't fight anymore" or "NHL players now fined for fighting"...and none of that is true. VermontHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread You know what the Bruins may have lost this one to Dallas,,in a shootout.. but I can take this kind of lose,, they had great intensity, and grit from start to finish.... Hey Mike, what do you think of that goalie (Tim Thomas) who by the way played his collegic years for the University of Vermont Catamounts ... Fire Raycroft and keep Thomas... TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Official Hockey thread Yeah I thought he played well. He stopped alot of shots. I say keep him in and Raycroft out. Right now, anybody is better than Raycroft. Now to the forwards, Bergeroun(sp) and Samsonov let them two shots slide. Neither of them showed any emotion taking the puck down the ice. I thought they both were sloppy shots during the shootout.
