VTbowman
I am interested in how these blades open. The design could lend itself to a trad bow hunter with its wicked cut on contact front tip, but the opening of the blades on swing back designed heads would destroy the minimal KE a trad bow has already. If the blade slide back on impact then this will not drop KE enough to matter and could still work but I can not "see" how these blades open via the interent pics I see of then. Can someone explain them and estimate the angle of the blades once open? Maybe a pic or 3 of closed, 1/2 open, and fully open of these heads? Thanks! Gator
Re: Teken blade action? VT, They do in fact slide backwards to open upon impact. I would say to about a 45 degree angle. Package says .5 to 1lb of energy to open, I can flick them open with my fingernail, minimal pressure at that. They do have O rings, but not in the traditional manner. the O ring applies an outward pressure to keep the heads closed. Wish I had mine with me to show you them open. In fact, i think they would be an awesome mechanical for traditional shooters due to the way they open.
Gator
Re: Teken blade action? They may open even less than a 45 degree angle, but not by much
Adjam5
Re: Teken blade action? Take a look here... www.broadheadtests.com They did a profile on the tekan. I also beleive that there are 2 models of the Tekan too. There was an early version and a current version. The early version can still be bought, but there were some problems with them. Gator
Re: Teken blade action? VT I beleive .5 to 1lb, I can't remeber if that was KE or actual force. I do know it doesn't take much, AT ALL. I have the older model, friend has the current version, and just by looking at them, I see no difference in the way they are made.
