My pretty orange stick (pic)

Here is a few pics of the trad bow I am using now to hunt with.

Its an Osage self bow, which is a bow made entirely of one piece of wood, 53@24" and shoots a 420g GT 3555 at 164 fps.

Notice the snakey wood.

Also notice it is shot off the knuckle not a shelf and if you look closely at the deer target, you will see my white feathers and nock right where its suppose to be!

Thanks folks but I did not make it. LOL

I bought it from a friend of mine and Jakes.

I tell ya its a whole other world shooting trad and even more so off the knuckle with a self bow.

When you start getting good that way, you know you have made it in the trad world. LOL

If you ever get the chance to pick up a cheap recurve or shoot someone elses please do so.

It may not make you sell all your compound stuff but the enjoyment you gain from it will be well worth it.

I never in a million years thought I would sell all my compound stuff; but look at me now.

As you can see at 20 yards I am dead on.

I will be at 30 yard next summer you can bet on it!

It takes 100x more practice to get "huntin" good with a trad bow but think about how many times more exciting it would be to tag out with it.....

(I dont think I can count that high....LOL)

You're exactly right. I started shooting a longbow about 2 years ago and I'll admit to not shooting it as much as I should but I'm not quite ready to take it hunting yet. One day I'll shoot so consistant that it's pretty amazing and the next I'll be all over the place. smirk.gif

Congrats on the self bow and best of luck with it.
