Gator
BUT GOT THE DOE!!!!!!!!!! Took off work early yesterday, had plans to hunt 1 of 2 alfalfa fields in the local WMA. Went by them on the way home, someone had beat me to the punch. Decided to go to a feild my daughter and I had checked out a couple of weeks ago, we had seen 3 deer, and some turkeys in here. get down there about 5:30, WHEWWWW, noone there. Head out, cross a food plot, get into a neck of woods between 2 fields, just as I round the corner, I see 2 deer in the disced trail a little ways down. I turn back, set my stuff down, wait a few minutes, nothing. Eaze up, they're gone. This is the same spot we saw those 3 last time. I decide to set up underneat a blackjack oak and cedar tree. Hour goes by, I think I hear deer walking in the woods to the NW, which is about 100yds away. Little time goes by, see movement, sure is, a doe coming down the trail. By the time I get my bow up, release clipped on, draw, and the pin on her, she is at 10yds, and turning the corner. I release, hitting a little higher than I would have liked. She takes off to my right, runs say 30yds, turns and comes back, hits the field, then runs dead away from me. By this time I jump up so I can watch her. I see where she goes, get on the phone to call the wife to bring me my game cart, and start the search. I go out to where she was standing, there is blood on the grass behind her . I tried to pick up a blood trail, but hitting her that high, and off the ground, didn't leave much of one. So off to where I last saw her. On the back side of this field were some "holes" not sure how to describe them, but they were all clay, no grass. Didn't see any tracks or blood, so I knew she didn't cross. Walked around a tree, THERE SHE WAS!!!! Man was I pumped!!!! By this time the wife and kids are there with the cart, loaded her up, the kids almost fought over who was gonna drag her out!!! Had to make them take turns! She was a good doe, dressed out at 80lbs. Pics to follow. Forgot to mention, shot her with a G5 TEKAN, boy thems some nasty little buggers!! Took out both lungs and the liver! This makes 3 deer with the bow, all from the ground.........Anyone wanna buy some treestands????
