Squirrelhunter91
Here is a buck that was shot in Long Island last week: I don't know any details about it, like score or where in LI it was shot, but wherever it was shot or whatever it scores, that is one heck of a deer! tedicast
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! If you go by the bow....the axle to axle would be 33" or so....comparing that to the outside spread of the deer, and the spread would 50"plus...is that possible? It just looks out of proportion to me. Plus the fact of how id he supporting the deers head with 1 hand like that. Maybe I'm way off base, but I have been looking at that pic for a week, and it is just hard to believe.

Hoyt03
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! Thats a big deer but I also agree that something here doesnt add up. The front of that deer looks like a darn horse. Could just be that camera is right up in the deer's face but i dont know still looks un proportional
gitcha_some
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! no that pic is definantly looking more fake the longer i look at it....why r the ears still sticking up?....the face is a different color than the body, the list goes on
ilhnter
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! That is a huge buck, but i agree with everyone else that something just doesn't look right. I don't buy it.

[ QUOTE ] no that pic is definantly looking more fake the longer i look at it....why r the ears still sticking up?....the face is a different color than the body, the list goes on [/ QUOTE ] Some folks never cease to amaze me.. I don't know if the buck is real or not, actually, I don't care. I didn't shoot it, so it really doesn't affect me, but what I'm trying to say is this: Everyone complained that the Rompola Buck's ears were too droopy for it to be real. I think that buck is real. I have seen tons of deer freshly killed and at the butcher that have ears like that, droopy and none of them had "fake" antlers or a fake skull cap on it. Now, because this deer's ears are too perky, now it's a problem.. Incredible...

IowaDeerHunter
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! I'll be honest I think it looks fake. BUT until somebody proves its a fake, it is real in my book. Definetely a great buck!
GoodOlMossyHorns
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! i think the deer is huge. Yes, it looks a little too large in some places, but the head and antlers are closer to the camera than the rest of the body. It is real in my book. wtnhunt
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! Looks like a great buck. Looks pretty real to me, but the hunter is sitting with his arm extended and the deer being closer to the camera over exagerates the size of the deer in comparison to the man. tedicast
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! I found a few other pics of this deer. I'll admit. I was wrong about it being a doctored picture. The first pic just didn't look right to me...still doesn't. I can't get over the body size of this deer. It looks even bigger from the angles in these pics. Definately not your normal North East deer. Thats for sure!!!
Master_Chief
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! That is an awesome deer. I think they did the picture an injustice trying to sit back so far. I think that may work for fish, holding it close to the camera to make it look bigger, but makes people wonder with a deer. Don't know why. jgbennett6
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! well not average for MOST northeast deer. I have seen a few northern bucks bigger than that, but it is a monster. Any deer given long enough to live can get big:)
RangerClay
Re: Awesome Long Island Deer! I believe it!!! I have seen pictures like this before. I figure the deer was harvested on the eastern end of the island. Some parts are still very agricultural and they still have some dandy deer out there. Almost every year our NYS biggest deer comes from the Island. Long Island is bow hunting only and does not get the credit it deserves as a place to kill a Booner.
