After missing a nice doe with my bow yesturday I just got to wondering who else in here has missed any deer with their bows? I'm upset about missing, but i'm not too dissapointed. It's better than wounding it. So who all has missed? Please include details(distance, size of deer, reason-if known-for missing, when??)

Re: Who all has missed?

This year I missed a doe at 25yds lol not that far but I didnt pick my shot, I just put my pin behind the front leg and let it fly. Missed. When I was 14 I missed a Huge 12point at about 20yds Buck fever for that one. hit a branch and the arrow went right under him. If it werent for the branch I would have a huge buck in my bedroom.

Don't feel bad..... I missed 1 at 20 yrds,, because dummy me used the 30 yrd. pin.... and lost one the very next day from a high shoulder hit.... search for hours, even with a trained tracking dog... still didn't find her...... Talk about upset,, yep that would be me..... frown.giffrown.gif

And to top it all off I haven't been able to get back it becuase of this darn foul weather we are having lately.... frown.gif

It's got to get better lil' just hang in there, and keep the chin up.... wink.gif

I've missed a 160 class 11 pt at 9 yds was sitting down and shot low and i missed a 150 class 10 pt at 12 yards due to a skinny camoflauged branch. still replay those 2 in my head every season and that was 6 years ago and my record book entry still is waiting! Havent missed since! hopefully i dont jinx myself

Re: Who all has missed?

everyone misses from time to time,i missed a monster 8 point last year from 3 yards, no buck fever i just rushed the shot, which is a very bad habit to get into, wounded and missed shots come from lack of practice, my advice is to shoot as much as your time allows, and if you don`t have the time, make time..

Re: Who all has missed?

If you have not missed, you have not been hunting long enough. Everyone does it sooner or later. I have missed a few times in the past. From does at 3 yards (jumped the string) to a monster at 40 yards (misjudged yardage and shot low) and a few in between. That is also over 25 years of bowhunting. Just learn from the miss, what caused the miss, how would you not do it again.

Re: Who all has missed?

I have. Who hasn't? Of those who haven't, who has killed more than 10 deer?

Don't let it get you down. Learn why you missed and try not let that happen again.

I know this, if I spend anytime doing anything that's competitive, there's bound to be some failure.

Re: Who all has missed?

i missed a doe last year at 10 yards. it was the first deer i have been able to draw back on since i started bow hunting and i got a little excited and did not waite for the best shot. she was walking right towards me and if i would have waited a couple more minutes she would have been atleast 5 yards but heck 10 yards away should be an easy shot. it is amazing how excited you get when you see a deer no matter how many you have seen in the woods and taken weather it be a gun or bow. man that is why i love to hunt it never gets old.

Re: Who all has missed?

I missed the first deer I ever drew on 4 years ago on public hunting land. It was a 12 point buck in between the gun seasons. I was 12 yds away on the ground and he was broadside to me working on his scrape he made that morning in the fresh snow.

I was so nervous when he showed up that I didn't even look through my peep and I only got the bow drawn back 3/4 of the way before I let the arrow fly. It shot above his back and into the woods. The buck never new I was there and I never saw him again.

Since then I have shot at two more does and I have harvested them both. Nothing yet this year and I didn't hunt at all last year.
