Guest nuhf Posted October 17, 2005 Report Share Posted October 17, 2005 i was invited to work my lab at a continental pheasant hunt this coming weekend. this will be her first hunt so i am little nervous for her. i know that she will have trouble working with multiple targets, but she is great a retrieving single dove. so i hope she does ok, she will not be a champion or nothing but if she retrieve one pheasant i will be happy and if no one bashes my dog. Guest nuhf Posted October 25, 2005 Report Share Posted October 25, 2005 Re: taking my lab on its first hunt she did ok for her first time. it took her a few birds before she started to pick them up. i guess b/c she was not used to pheasants but now she gets excited when i pull the pheasant out of the freezer and work a couple rounds with her. so over all she did ok. i am not over excited with her but not disapponted. she still needs alot of work. Too many of my dogs in the past didn't get a whiff of birds, so they just think they're out there to run, but when they smell birds, and I shoot birds, they start to make a connection quickly.
