Outrageous find while cleaning!

I have always loved to find strange things in old houses. It kind of feels like I have been treasure hunting. HOWEVER, I found something in my own home that I was not too fond of.

Last week I was cleaning out the furnace blower housing and the intake duct with my shop vac. About half way through my chore the shop vac started whining because it had gotten stuck on something. I tried to get it out with the shop vac and had no luck so I got an old curtain rod and started fishing around until this gallon sized plastic ziploc bag came out of the dust. I figured it was spare parts or something until I cleared the dust off. Imagine my surprise when I realized that it was a gallon sized bag of MARIJUANA!!!! shocked.gif

I have lived in this house since 1997 and never knew that the drug was in my house. I'm glad my children never found it. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I double wrapped it in more plastic and threw it into the garbage. It's amazing what can go on right under your nose and you never know it. Apparently it belonged to the previous owner.

I asked a couple of folks that I work with that "know" about these things and when I told them how much there was of it they said that it had a "street value" of about $1,000-$1,500. I'm just glad it's gone. I hope that I stick to finding antiques from now on!

That must have been a stunner..lol. You better get that out of your house in case someone that knows you who does not like you reads this. I know some people that would take that off your hands, but I am sure not one of them.

Re: Outrageous find while cleaning!

I remember once. I found 150$ buried out side. We were digging up the ground for the new pipeing we were putting in. And i hit something hard. I dug it up and it was a wooden box. So i opened it and there was a bunch of cash and some old papers. Turned it into the police statation. No one claimed it. So i got to keep it cool.gif ......Never have found anything else in my back yard since....

Well well well...that is quite a find.

Amazing what you can find while house cleaning LOL

Flushing it is the safest way to get rid of it, but double wrapping it and trashing it will work...once its in the trash truck no one will be able to tell whos house it came from if anyone finds it.

In actuiality, guys...the proper way to dispose of it is to contact the authorities and have them get rid of it.

You will be in a VERY precarious position if, during your attempts to get rid of it yourself, you are caught with it in your possession.

Not only that, but if it's mixed in with your trash, and someone finds it, and...say an envelope or discarded magazine with your name on it, who will they trace it back to???...YOU! It's better to call the police and report what you've found and have them confiscate and dispose of it.
