Plus send me to an oral surgeon to get a tooth cut out of the back of my jaw... man oh man I hope my benifits at work cover some of this... I know it's important and everything and I go at least twice a year but I definitely cringe when I think about it. As a matter of fact, I had to go this morning for some quick work. Not enjoyable!!! Like anything else, it's better to be proactive instead of reactive. My old dentist (Dr. Tom Payne, no kidding), just retired. My Dad always said his dentist would look in his mouth, wring his hands and say, "Looks like I'll be going on that elk hunt afterall!" My wife works for a dentist. I use to go all the time...BUT as I got older I would not freeze very well....long storey short the last time I was there he had to freeze me 12 times to get in 1 filling that is why I have not gone back....on a side note I broke my finger in 2 places and dislocated it in hockey (slap shot in my glove hand) the doc says she would freeze it good....no such luck I felt her pop it back into joint......man I hate not being able to freeze! If not, do yourself a favor and get a second opinion, just in case he is padding his budget with unnecessary work. I had a dentist that did some major fillings all over my mouth when I was in Highschool and convinced my mom it was absolutely necessary. My first clue this was a bad deal was when he was trying to fit the fillings in he couldn't get the lower filling to mesh with the uper teeth, so he ground down the upper teeth to fit his filling instead of shaping the filling properly. Then, a few years later the fillings started falling out and I whent to my parents new dentist for emergency work to refill them. The new dentist said that the orriginal work was shoddily done and wasn't even needed in the first place. He said the fillings had been inserted in perfectly healthy teeth.
