Nosler Partition ?

I have a 300 H & H and the only factory rounds I can find anymore are Federals with 180 grain partitions. How do these bullets work on Whitetails? I could have shots anywhere from 10 to 300 yards. I have never used these bullets before and was curious about the performance on game. Also hope my rifle will shoot these rounds, or I'll have to reload. If I reload what is everybody's opinion on bullet choice for deer? Also if I reload I may go to 150 grain bullet. I need one that will hold together at close range, but still expand at 300 yards. Or I will just hunt with my 30-06 again this year.

Thanks

Matt

Re: Nosler Partition ?

You can use the same bullets you use in the 30-06. The performance difference is very small. In fact, the High Energy loads from Federal will make the cartridegs equal.

Anyhoo, the Partition is a great bullet. It's been around forever and is the standard for premium bullets. The Partition expands nicely and the actual partition will keep the base intact for good penetration.

Typically the Partition is not the most accurate bullet but it is an outstanding performer. Its not going to give a 4" group in a gun that shoots 1" groups, but often it will give 1.5" groups in a gun that shoots 1" so it is more than adequate.

Re: Nosler Partition ?

I used them for years in the 06' and loved them. They were very accurate for me. My Buddy used them in him .300 win mag and had really good results too. I went to the scirroco for the 06' but if the only thing I could get were the partitions I wouldn't feel inadequate. I still use them in my girls .260, my wifes .308, and my .350. I'm going to load some up for my 22-250 in case we run into a Mt. lion this winter while we're bobcat hunting.

Great bullet.
