Guest TheNumber1Young1
Well the other day i found out that there was something big in my grandmas (65) tree. She said it was bigger than our lab(85lbs) she said it must have been atleast 140, and it had a 2-3 ft tail that curled. Well i told her shes got a mountain lion out there. The mountaint lion has stayed there for a couple days now. She lives in a retirement park in Lake Whales, Florida(below Orlando). Well i got to talking to my mom and asked her if i could catch a plane down there with my bow friday and take care of it and i'll be back saturday....Well she just loved the idea, but only one problem, its illegal. I said but her life is in danger and sooner or later she is going to get mawled by it or she's going to have a heart attack....I thought flying down there to take care of it was a good idea, but how would i explain the kill to the police or game wardeN? i told my parents they wouldnt have to know(i dont consider this poaching because the tree it is in is right where my grandmas house is(right by the door), so it would be because her life was in danger. My mom e-mailed the conservation office down there, no reply yet. I dont think the police will do anything. They just dont understand, its not a bobcat or an armidillo, its a freakin' mountain lion (not to common where my grandma lives)..Just thought i might share. IowaDeerHunter
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree Maybe I am misunderstanding something here but, why don't you just call the DNR down there and explain the situation to them, I am sure they would get right on top of it. I am not sure if flying down there and killing it when it isn't legal, would be a good idea. I understand that it is next to your grandmas house that she is at everyday, but it hasn't really posed a threat to her, besides the fact of just being there. That is where I don't know if killing it would go over very well. I understand your concern for your grandma though, but I think the best thing to do in my opinion would be to call the DNR, get in contact with the main office and they should give you the head guy for the county she lives in. buckee
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree OK ..stop...sit back and think first. This is the game wardens job, not yours. If your Grandma can't call them and get the cat removed, you should be making the call. Hopping on a plane to shoot a cat illegally is the last thing you should be thinking about. If you were really concerned about Grandma, get on the phone to the Game department in her area and stop trying to come up with an ethical reason why you should shoot this cat....because there isn't one Just my opinion....eh
Guest TheNumber1Young1
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree She felt it was posing a threat, because everytime she went to go outside to get in her car, it always stared at her and made a weird sound similar to a hiss. popgun
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree Stop thinking of excuses for not hitting the books. If you want that 59 average to come up you will have to do a little studying. Oh yeah, Your 1 hour computer time is up so get back to the books. Don't worry so much about your granny, she can take care of herself. She has a phone and knows how to use it... ....popgun

stevebeilgard
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree good. let the pros handle it. by the way, it's not a mt. lion. it's a puma or black panther. (yep, that's a mt. lion lol)

ZooBear
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree I remember this from my CCW test "You cant shoot someone for staring at you." I think its the same with pumas.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Mountain Lion in G-mas tree I'm skeptical that it's a puma, at least not a wild one. Sitting in a tree for a prolonged period and watching people walk around just ain't their style. If it is a big cat of some sort, I'd guess it was a pet or zoo animal that escaped or got loose somehow. Regardless, get a wildlife officer or animal control over there to take a look.
