Most seem to be subordinates, and so shy away from it. I stick pretty much with rattling and calling. Doe bleats seem to work well. I rattled in a 6-pointer and a doe both, 2 days apart last season, and got 'em both. The first doe I ever saw come running to the horns! She was hot. He didn't like that. Layed the ears back, bristled up, and circled me. Gave me about a 40 yard shot out into a picked corn field, but I decided to pass on the shot. In the afternoon when going to my stand, I happen upon deer once in a while. When I do encounter them, I snort and freeze, not wheez . With camo on and the wind right, deer respond good to that sound. I had a doe walk towards me after I snorted and got within 10' then she smeeld me and took off. But I know without that snort she would've never come so close. This is the 1st year I am using that snort wheez sound. I have even experimented with that sound in my tree to bring deer back to the area where I can see them. No sound tube or anything, just a sloppy snort from my mouth.
