Excellent morning

We finally had a cold morning here in MN, it got down to 24 degrees. Before first light I heard a buck chasing a doe in the swamp and knew I was in for a good morning. At 7:15 a parade of does and fawns worked their way back from the fields through the swamp. Two minutes later a great 140 class 8 pt. came into the swamp on the same trail the does had used. He worked away from me into some thick brush. I decided to rattle to see if he might come in but he didn't. Ten minutes later I noticed movement to my left and here comes another 8 pt. He was a little bit smaller and not as wide as the first one I saw. He worked his way towards me and at 35 yards I thought this was a done deal. The thermals this morning were a little bit unpredictable and I could tell he winded me a little, but not enough to spook him. He stood behind some brush for a few minutes and decided something wasn't right and turned and walked away. Things are starting to roll around here but they are calling for 60 degrees the next couple days which I'm quite sick of. Next week should be awesome with highs in the 30's. Just wanted to share the news.
