unioncountyslayer
Well, rifle season begins this Saturday so I'll be hanging up the bow for a few weeks. The rut is finally in full swing down here and I hunt mostly open fields where the action is intense and fast. Not a great opportunity for bow kills during the rut on my land. Are you guys die hard bowhunters or do you bring out the arsenal from time to time?
PAbowhunter86
Re: Putting the Bow down for a few weeks I do both, bowhunting is mainly to get me out in the woods earlier, but man I finally got a deer this year and I think i am going to archery hunt alot more. unioncountyslayer
Re: Putting the Bow down for a few weeks I'm the same way PA. Since gun season comes in so late in NC, I took up bowhunting to get 2 whole extra months in the woods. I have really grown to love bowhunting, but I still enjoy those 200+ yard shots with my 7MAG. lil hunter
Re: Putting the Bow down for a few weeks I'm puttin the bow away as well. Gun season starts Saturday, and I'llbe carrying the ML. If I get one early, and it's still pretty warm later this season, I may take my bow and try to kill a doe with it. I have one stand that won't give more than a 10-20 yard shot, so I'll just hunt it with the bow. But, knowing my luck, I won't even shoot a deer this season. Dakota
Re: Putting the Bow down for a few weeks I'm going out tomorrow to see if I can't stick a couple before the rifle season kicks in. Come next Saturday though, I'll be hanging the bow up for the .30-30 and on Dec. 10th I'll hang that up for the CVA muzzleloader for the rest of the season. Though I might go out after that for a doe or two w/ the bow. I have my hunting season planned!
Hoyt03
Re: Putting the Bow down for a few weeks Alot of people consider gun season to be the start of the season, heck i consider the last day of archery to mean that the season is just about over. In PA we gets two weeks for rifle hunting, there are alot of guys who miss out on the good stuff by not bowhunting. I will prob bow hunt during rifle season
