joebobhunter4 Posted November 19, 2005 Report Share Posted November 19, 2005 was out huntin with my friend for some does... we seen one standin in a corn field so i got out to shoot it and i from the distance it looked like a fairly nice doe? but as i got closer it got smaller n smaller? turned out to be just like a really little button buck the horns hadnt even came out yet u could just feel them... i felt kinda bad n sick to the stomach... I don't care what anyone says about being able to recognize a button buck from a doe. When your hunting and excited to see one, they all look the same. Here in Arkansas we used to have a tag description for antlered and antler-less. They changed it to bucks and doe. Now if we shoot a button buck thinking it was a doe we have to tag it as a buck, and use one of our buck tags. It don't take but a couple of mistakes to learn to watch real close because the hunter is soon out of buck tags. (some areas here are 1 buck zones) This happens more often during gun seasons than archery, because the deer is not as close. Just learn from your boo-boo, and try to remember that if an antler-less one is alone, it probably is a small buck. ....popgun Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
