Squirrelhunter91
Back in early September, our buddy Bobby promised that he would kill the bobcat we have been seeing around the area. He promised to kill it only because of the mere fact it ate a squirrel in his treestand and left the carcass up there and dirtied the carpet in his stand. That was the cats death wish. So, on Saturday, my dad and I were coming out of the woods after hunting the afternoon and are standing there talking with one of our neighbors and we hear a shot. It came from the direction of Bobby's stand so my dad called him on his cell phone and asked what he just shot. Bobby said he took a shot at the bobcat. 2 minutes later, Bobby calls back confirming, Bobcat down. It was a 10lb male. Not a big one, but the first bobcat taken in Hurleyville, NY in a looonnnggg time... Squirrelhunter91
Re: New York Bobcat 11-26-05 Mick, I'm sure it would make a good skull mount, but Bobby is having a full body mount done.
Adjam5
Re: New York Bobcat 11-26-05 From what I learned about bobcats since the kill was... They travel in pairs when they are young as siblings. My buddy missed one of these cats a week before this one was taken. They also get to somehwere around 20-30lbs full grown. This cat weighed only 10 lbs, no doubt a young 'un. Most likely a yearling. Gotta git them turkey killers
hutchies
Re: New York Bobcat 11-26-05 He sure is beautiful. I missed the only shot I have ever had at a bobcat. When I do kill one it will be a full body mount.
Shaun_300
Re: New York Bobcat 11-26-05 Awesome cat! We don't have too many of them around up here anymore.
Adjam5
Re: New York Bobcat 11-26-05 I have a gentlemans agreement with others from that area, not too shoot any more of these cats if seen. Many guys have lived there 40-50 years and NEVER seen a Bobcat, let alone kill one. We agreed to let the other cat live( there was a pair) if any of us ever saw it in the woods again. The coyotes are what needs to be killed in that area. I think those cats in that area are few and far between.

I mean I guess I could understand if it was killing of some farm animals or something, but to kill it just because it left a squirell carcas up in a treestand. Idk. JMO.
