Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

I'm betting that will be Lloyd Esau's moose Cory??? confused.gif I'll likely be square, would like to make it in but pretty busy around here. Please don't even tell me of any real big one's with the 2nd tag on them. One guy shot a big 6x6 and a big 5x5 on back to back mornings behind my house last week, I know that isn't the forest. I'm not naming names or anything but I spent 1/2 hr on the phone with a Serm official in Laronge. He understands my gripe with the "temptation" tag. God I'm praying it doesn't exist next year.

My Christmas wish from SERM

1. Make 55 a designated trail only zone

2. Two anterless tags with each youth package

3. Forest tag anterless only

4. Archery elk in 55

5. Drop that deer tag in the moose season B.S

6. Canadian residants need a Class C guide

Hey I'll take your horns in and bask in your glory-I'd do that for a friend lol.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

Hey superguide, #6 is a great point. A guy that hunts in my area brings 4 of his buddies out every year, and theyre from Alberta. The five of them hunt hard for the non resident week, and haul out huge bucks every year. This year, they got 2 booners, and 3 nice 150-160 class bucks. What they do is legal, but shouldn't be. I saw way too many gut piles this year in my area and it is a sad sight to see.

What's happening Saskbucks is that out of province guys are hunting here till they no the area then going back to their province and charging guys to go hunt in Sask. with them. In Alta you are allowed to guide an out of province hunter every two years I think. I had friends from Quebec and B.C. come out hunting this fall so I don't have a problem with out of province guys but don't like the rogue outfitters too much. Some Albertans took an absolute hog about 30 minutes south of us week before last-it grossed 207 typical-on the way to hockey Ty saw a real good buck from the bus window-he said a big 6x6 with a real good spread-there was only an hour left of deer season when he saw it so hopefully he makes it.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

It's not allowed that's the problem but it's almost impossible to catch a guy at it. All SERM sees is a group of out of province guys in a hunting camp together. At least if they had to have a guide it would be regulated a bit. Not saying they need a hired guide but at least have a local host them. I don't think out of province guys should be banned-they add alot of money to the economy but they shouldn't abuse the resource either.

Yah I realize that you need an alberta resident with you, but I would be totally fine with that in Sask. I was just saying that we should be able to apply for at least a few sask draws. The temporary guide lisence, you do not need to apply for it, any alberta resident that has a WIN card can go buy one, they just need the WIN number of the nonresident person, because it goes on the temporary guide lisence. I believe its called a hunter host lisence and not a temporary guide lisence.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

Us guys from Sask are allowed to enter some of your draws???? This is the first time i've ever heard that. I cannot drive 60 miles west and hunt without a host and I can enter a draw? Wow! Like Cory said, we're not trying to keep guys out but the host idea is a good one. It's the fisherman we don't want. lol Just kidding.............sort of.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

There are very few, if any draws, that you sask guys cannot put in for over here. You can not put in by yourself, you must apply with a resident, but if you get drawn you do not have to hunt with that same person, you can get anyone to buy the hunter host lisence and go with them. Yah there is nothing wrong with Sask putting in the same hunter host thing as alberta, and I do not know exact numbers, but the hunter host can only "host" a few people a year. There has also been rumours of Sask putting in a rule for Waterfowl outfitters, saying that the american hunters who come up here and hunt by themselves, without an outfitter, are not going to be allowed to anymore. Meaning that non-canadians must have a guide to even shoot geese. I don't know if it will happen or not.

Superguide, yah I feel your pain, over here where we hunt mulies we only get it every 4 years to. Those years that a guy doesn't have it is when we seem to see the biggest ones. My cousin had a mulie buck tag this year for the alberta side of lloyd, and we took him to a couple of our honey holes, well long story short he missed a big Mulie, at least 30 inches wide, I think a little buck fever hit him, lol.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

We're not getting rid of the 2nd either sex forest tag...lucky for all the poachers I guess. No increase in antlerless #'s either, I guess SERM wants some CWD here too. Feel free to email [email protected] and give him a piece of your mind Superguide, I did, not to mention a bunch more serm officials who'll be opening an emaila day from me until I hear their lame **** excuse.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

Man that sucks-I had a neighbor got a real good buck-in 55 forest tagged it and will not shoot a doe-Ty and I try and shoot 2 does for every buck most years-we ended up 3 and 3 this year -my last day of hunting I never saw a doe to shoot.Be intersting if they did some forensics on some of the big deer at horn measuring_I wonder if they could tell where they were shot. I've seen guys slip up on their scoresheet and say they shot both bucks in 55 even.

Re: Dec.6-Meadow Lake Horn Measuring!!!

Superguide and Saskman, not that this is the most scientific method to use but my bush bucks have been dark...really dark. My 55 bucks have been quite a bit lighter. Some of the guys yesterday tried to pass off there forest bucks as 55...making my judgement on color I would call B.S. and knowing the story(rumor-I'm getting as bad as some of them Gunner) behind their deer I just couldn't hold my tongue yesterday. They aren't getting any pressure from SERM so maybe some fellow hunters talking about it might smarten the odd guy up. Some guys don't even try to hide the fact they shot their forest buck in 55. It is a bigger problem then SERM will ever admit. mad.gif
